Firstly I would like to open my report with a huge thank you to all who make this PTA as successful as it is.  Although I may be chair it is how we all work together that makes us succeed! However, it is not just the PTA that I have to thank it is everyone that is involved with the school, whether a member of staff or part of our children’s family. This year we raised £3,422.70.

As usual we had a very busy few months leading up to Christmas with lots of organising behind the scenes for the children’s Christmas cards, Mugs and coasters raising £339.60.  The annual Christmas fayre raised a further £556.82 and then finally Santa’s letter raising £175.19. This was the second time the school had tried this idea and the feedback from parents was that all the children loved their personalised letters.  Also, as we had done in previous years we purchased small gifts for the children to buy for their parents. As always their faces didn’t disappoint as they came in to choose a present. This really isn’t about making money it’s just done for the children, although we did raise £166.49. Well done to our PTA shoppers, this is a time consuming event to prepare for, and all the help given is greatly appreciated.

Mother’s day and Father’s day are run the same as Secret Santa. Between the two we raised £253.96. With the Easter egg raffle making £78.00 and Sports day making £192.65. This year we again sold strawberries and cream which went down a storm, and thanks to the generous donation from Tesco, who provided it all for free, there were plenty to go around.

At the school we have our Green Flag award and the PTA is keen to support this. We ask you to send in used items like ink cartridges / mobile phones for us to recycle and through this we made £27.57. So don’t forget to keep sending in your recyclable items.  We had one clothes collection which made £118.35. Another free way to raise money is through the Giving Machine website (www.thegivingmachine.co.uk). This year they have donated £106.47 to our school.

Let’s not forget the ever popular Quiz night, which again was well supported.  This year we raised £223.05.

Our biggest fundraiser of the school year is our Summer fayre and this year it didn’t disappoint. We kindly received sponsorship from Brittania Cars to assist us in our fayre and overall we made £880.73. Although the school didn’t have a very big request list this year we spent the following on making the year a memorable one by holding a Christmas disco, which overall cost £164.70 and included refreshments . We also paid £1,700.00 for transportation for the whole school to attend a Christmas Pantomime, and each class to have one further trip throughout the year.

We purchased various items for Foundation Phase this year, including the very successful wooden blocks.  Total spent was £415.61. Our final expenditure, £471.38, was a thank you to the Year 6’s and their parents who have supported us for the last 7 years. They received books for the whole class and teachers to write in and in the final week they had their own “Harry Potter themed Leaver’s party”. This was a wonderful way to say good luck and thank you to them all.

As I said before the PTA is not just one person but the whole community of Rogiet Primary School. We are all here to support the children but I would like to say a few special thanks to the following people. Karen Markey, Amanda Boswell, Jennifer and Janet Pearce, and Pam Curtis, whose children have left to go to Secondary School. A particular thanks is needed for James Pearce, who over the last 7 years has been there helping at so many of our events.  Especially when he has been carrying out his ‘special person’ duties on our behalf.  Claire Barraclough, who organised the Christmas fayre and assisted with the summer fayre too.  Hazel Jones, secretary and Anne Marie Williams, treasurer.
