20.3.20: Latest update for Parents and Carers - Provision for Childcare for Key Workers

Dear Parents and Carers

The school will use the Dojo and the school’s website as platforms for bulletin boards to keep you informed of the current situation within school regarding the Coronavirus and future learning.

The school is now closed for the majority of pupils.

 Rogiet Primary School is now a provision for ‘Key Workers’ for Rogiet, Undy and Magor children from Monday 23^rd March 2020. Monmouthshire will follow the UK Government’s definition of key workers-this can be found online. If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading. That is why the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend

MCC will sharing a registration form online this afternoon registration information will be on www.monmouthshire.gov.uk and all parents presenting on Monday morning are expected to present an ID of a relevant service or industry sector.

Some members of staff from all three schools will be at Rogiet so there is a familiar face for the pupils.

Pupils eligible for Free School Meals will be able to pick up a lunch from school on a ‘grab and go’ basis (this will be available between 12pm and 2pm).

24.3.20: latest update from Monmouthshire County Council about changes to provision of childcare to support key workers

19.3.20: Latest update for Parents and Carers 

Dear Parents and Carers

The school will use the Dojo and the school’s website as platforms for bulletin boards to keep you informed of the current situation within school regarding the Coronavirus and future learning.

As stated yesterday school will be closed from Friday afternoon onwards. Monmouthshire County Council are in the process of establishing settings for the provision of safe supervised care facilities for primary and secondary aged children of identified key workers. When I know more I will keep you updated.

School staff have been made aware that they remain available to work and this may be in other establishments. Staff have prepared work for the pupils and more work/activities will follow in the coming weeks.

Remaining home learning packs for children who are now not attending school are available to collect tomorrow afternoon.

18.3.20: Update for Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers

The school will use the Dojo and the school’s website as platforms for bulletin boards to keep you informed of the current situation within school regarding the Coronavirus and future learning.

‘School Closures – Following the recent announcement with regard to schools closing in Wales as far as we know, at this present time, we will close at the end of the day on Friday 20^th March. I will update you when I have received further information about return dates, remote learning and school life.’ School will be open on Thursday 19^th and Friday 20^th, currently.

Please can you ensure that the school has your up-to-date contact details just in case we need to contact you.

Staff have prepared learning packs for children who cannot access the internet, these will be sent home or they can be picked up on Thursday or Friday after school. Those pupils who can access the internet, learning tasks will be sent home via Dojo (Reception and Year 1) and Google Drive through Hwb (Years 2 to Year 6).

17.3.20: Update for Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers

The school will use the Dojo platform and the school website as a daily bulletin board to keep you informed of the current situation within school regarding the Coronavirus.

With the UK Government’s guidance on the Coronavirus changing status from the ‘contain’ to ‘delay’ phase, I would like to reassure you that in school we are taking all of the necessary steps in response to this in order to protect our school community. We are following the official guidance shared by Monmouthshire Local Authority, Public Health Wales and the UK Government which is updated daily. Following the current official guidance school remains open.

We would ask that pupils continue to attend school as normal unless they develop a high temperature or a new continuous cough. The current advice is if you display these symptoms -

Current advice about how long to stay at home:

-          If you have symptoms, stay at home for 7 days

-          If you live with other people, they should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms

-          If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days

-          If you have to stay at home together, try to keep away from each other as much as possible

In these unprecedented circumstances staff have been asked to prepare for scenarios and are busily preparing materials to support distance learning for children whose parents request this or should the situation arise where there is a forced full or partial closure. Today Governors and I have prepared a new critical incident plan specifically to address the possible affects that Coronavirus might have on our school.

16.3.20: Llangrannog Residential:

Unfortunately, the residential trip to Llangrannog planned for later this week has had to be postponed. We know how disappointing this news must be for the Year 6 but our priority is the safety of the children, teachers and their families. Further details will be sent out in a letter tomorrow. Many thanks for your understanding.

16.3.20: Updated advice from the UK Government about self-isolation

If you or anyone in your household has a high temperature or a new continuous cough - even if mild:

• Everyone in your household must stay home for 14 days and keep away from others
• DO NOT go to the GP, pharmacy or hospital
• Use NHS Direct (nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk) to check your symptoms and for further specialist medical advice.
• Only call NHS 111 if your symptoms worsen.
• Protect older people and those with existing health conditions by avoiding contact.
